Wahacanka — The Lakota Shield
Historically, Lakota shields could serve both physical and spiritual purposes. Made with carefully prepared hide, they could bear designs of deep personal meaning. The shield also evokes the Akíčhita's responsibility to protect relatives and the Oyate.
Our platform draws inspiration from the principles of protection and responsibility. It does not claim to reproduce the sacred significance of any particular traditional shield.
